Ducks Unlimited and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Services were among 17 groups that received President Barack Obama’s Coastal America Partnership Award for their role in the Nisqually Estuary Restoration Project. The award is to recognize outstanding collaborative, multi-agency and multi-stakeholder efforts that combine resources to accomplish restoration, preservation, protection and education projects. Spanning 15 years, the restoration project has impacted more than 900 acres of tidal habitat in the Nisqually Delta. It is the largest estuary restoration project in the Pacific Northwest and is considered crucial to the recovery of endangered Chinook salmon in the Nisqually watershed.
