Tony Dean’s Memorial Acres

A fund has been established to provide a fitting memorial for an outdoor communicator and conservation leader. Tony Dean of Pierre, S.D., died Oct. 19, 2008. Dean’s family and friends have teamed with the South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation in establishing a memorial fund to continue his legacy.
The fund will be used to purchase land for a wildlife management area – providing public recreation and environmental education. A fundraising committee is working with major conservation organizations, forming partnerships to honor Dean’s longtime dedication to natural resources.
Dean produced the award-winning “Tony Dean Outdoors TV” and “Dakota Backroads Radio,” and authored books and thousands of articles. He educated his audience and readers about threats to the environment and habitats.
“Tony wanted the average person to be able to enjoy the great outdoors,” said Dean’s wife Dar. “We hope people who enjoyed and respected his work will step up and enable us to do this for him.”
A Tony Dean’s Acres Memorial Fund has been established through the South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation, allowing individuals, businesses and organizations to make tax-deductible contributions to the fund.
Contributions payable to Tony Dean’s Acres Memorial may be sent to: South Dakota Parks and Wildlife Foundation. Tony Dean’s Acres Memorial, 523 E. Capitol Ave., Pierre, SD 57501. Credit card donations may be made via the Parks and Wildlife Web site:  www.parkswildlifefoundation.org.
