LINCOLN, Nebraska – Turkey hunters across the U.S. are now able to check turkey activity in their area thanks to the Gobble Map, made possible by ALPS OutdoorZ.
Powderhook is proud to partner with a solid brand like ALPS OutdoorZ on the Gobble Map because it’s a win for everyone involved,” said Eric Dinger, Powderhook co-founder and CEO. “Because of the ALPS sponsorship, hunters now have a free tool to report and research turkey activity.”
Dinger further states, “This app couldn’t have come together without great partnerships. The seasoned biologists at the National Wild Turkey Federation had a lot to say about the behavior of the app and the map. Then, ALPS OutdoorZ stepped up to make sure the app could be used by everyone for free. ALPS cares about providing quality products at reasonable prices, which can be seen in everything associated with their name. It’s a brand I believe fellow turkey hunters appreciate and respect. I’ve carried my ALPS pack everywhere since the day I helped start Powderhook. Hopefully because of ALPS’ investment a few extra people will find some luck in the turkey woods this spring.”
The user-driven Gobble Map, released on March 23, through Google Play and Apple app
stores, allows users to post and view turkey sightings with information about frequency
and size of the turkey flocks. A web version is also available at http://www.gobblemap.com. The map displays a general location of the activity “heat”, helping to keep hunters’ locations private. In its first week, the app peaked at number twelve in the App Store.
“The Gobble Map is proving that turkey season is well underway in certain parts of the country, and it has been fun to watch the progression on the app,” said ALPS PR Manager, Justin Leesmann. “This unique app not only gives insight into turkey activity for hunters, but also allows them to share information with each other and the NWTF, which we believe will prove to be an important tool for conservation as well.”
