Cumberland Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited partners with Carlisle Events

CARLISLE, PA – Every day, enthusiasts locally and nationally love to put on a pair of waders and cast a line. Because fly-fishing is so incredibly popular around the country and in central Pennsylvania, Carlisle Events has collaborated with the Cumberland Valley Chapter of Trout Unlimited for the all-new Carlisle Sports and Outdoor Nationals, September 6-8 at the Carlisle PA Fairgrounds. With the partnership, the CVTU has a massive venue to showcase their organization, while Carlisle Events can host yet another great organization that is specific to the sports and outdoor lifestyle.
Throughout the three-day event weekend, the CVTU will be positioned onsite to host both a Fly Fishing competition as well as a Fly Fishing demonstration. For enthusiasts that have ever spent time along the Yellow Breeches Creek in neighboring Boiling Springs, Pennsylvania or fished the waters of Big Sky country, they know how wonderful an activity like fly fishing can be. They’ll have a huge display staffed by CVTU members and as part of that, will have videos, etc., showcasing their week. Flies and books will be for sale too at show-specific prices and tying demonstrations will be ongoing all weekend. In addition, the CVTU will sponsor both the Pennsylvania Fly Tying and Fly Casting Championships and they’ll offer an opportunity to anyone who wants to try casting a rod, tying a fly or is looking for information about fly fishing. Ultimately, the CVTU wants to enhance the experience and educate guests and participants along the way.
“With the demise of the Sportsman’s Show in Harrisburg last spring, we welcomed another venue to show the public our cold-water conservation work,” said John Leonard, Vice President of Cumberland Valley Trout Unlimited. “We want to educate the public to the importance of preserving our natural cold-water resources too and hope to further build our membership. People don’t have to fish to appreciate and financially support our conservation work.” Leonard continued, “We’re excited to introduce the sport of fly fishing to those interested, to have a venue for the PA Fly Tying Championship, the first ever PA Fly Casting Championship and to have an opportunity to sell flies as a fundraiser for our efforts.”
In addition to the demonstrations and competitions, representatives from CVTU will be on hand to answer questions and have first-hand interaction with guests. Further, anyone interested in joining CVTU can discuss membership opportunities as well. A complete list of all weekend activities is available online via www.CarlisleSportOutdoor.com. Finally, anyone interested in being a sponsor, vendor or guest can call 717-243-7855 for more information.
