The organization’s spring recruitment campaign began February 1, 2026 and ends on July 31, 2026. OWAA called on each of its constituents to actively enlist potential new members to join. Student and Associate members are also valid for recruitment.

The rules are simple:

• Current members are asked to reach out to outdoor writers, photographers, podcasters, bloggers, editors, videographers, etc. who would benefit from joining OWAA and share their experiences with them.
• Members then direct the recruits to the OWAA application page where they complete the necessary form after clicking the appropriate APPLY NOW tab.
• The applying member will list the referring OWAA member as a SPONSOR (this is important for tracking recruitment).
• For every new member successfully recruited, the current member will get one entry.
• We will choose one of the referring members each month to win a prize.
• Winners take their pick from the very robust, very well-outfitted list of prizes below — from outdoor gear brand gift cards to outdoor magazine subscriptions, class vouchers, and even a trip or two.
• We also choose a winner from all the new members that joined and every month one will also get to select a prize!
