The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission is now accepting 2013 grant applications for the Land and Water Conservation Fund and the Recreational Trails Program.
The LWCF is a federally funded grant program for outdoor recreation projects. Eligible projects include ball fields, soccer fields, swimming pools, picnicking facilities, playgrounds, park acquisition and development, shelter houses and other projects. Sponsors must be political subdivisions. LWCF provides reimbursable matching grants for up to 50 percent of costs. Applications must be submitted by Dec. 31.
The RTP is a grant program funded through the Federal Highway Administration that reimburses political subdivisions up to 80 percent of project costs for trail acquisition, development, renovation and support facilities. This funding source is for motorized and non-motorized trail projects. Applications must be submitted or postmarked by Oct. 1.
