The annual Outdoor Writers Association of America is set to make its long-awaited arrival in El Paso, Texas, September 20 – 22, in the heart of downtown. In addition to an energy-packed itinerary and conference agenda, the Sun City is truly brimming with excitement. To best accommodate those attending the conference, here are a few tips, tricks, and items to keep in mind to best enjoy your stay in El Paso.

The conference will be held at the El Paso Convention Center, with the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel El Paso Downtown serving as the official conference hotel. The hotel offers a special OWAA Conference rate of $139 per night for attendees, so be sure to book your stay early.

Fly into El Paso International Airport with flights available on major carriers. Please note that a passport is required for the planned evening excursion across the border into Juárez, Mexico. El Paso boasts more than 300 days of sunshine per year, but temperatures can vary, so pack accordingly. Comfortable walking shoes for excursions and business-casual attire for the conference sessions are recommended.

El Paso’s downtown area is conveniently walkable, with easy access to museums, shopping, restaurants, and more. Public transit options include the El Paso Streetcar, connecting the Convention Center to various downtown attractions.
