Interior Secretary highlights national conservation priorities in new report

U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar released America’s Great Outdoors Fifty-State Report, which highlights more than 100 of the country’s most promising projects designed to protect special places and increase access to outdoor spaces. The full report contains two projects per state and is part of President Obama’s America’s Great Outdoors initiative to establish a community-based, 21st century agenda for conservation, recreation, and reconnecting Americans to the outdoors. Projects include restoring and providing recreational access to rivers and other waterways, constructing new trails, improving recreational sites, creating and enhancing urban parks, and restoring and conserving America’s most significant landscapes.
