Building your base camp with a portable smokeless fire pit is easy and convenient with Breeo’s newest Y Series fire pit.

As an outdoor communicator — writer, photographer, video producer, podcaster, content creator or artist — you probably spend a fair amount of your time outside in the field reporting while experiencing and exploring the great outdoors first-hand. And a lot of that time may be spent backcountry camping, far from traditional campgrounds and far from traditional fire pits.

Breeo is a fire pit manufacturing company specializing in making high-quality outdoor fire pits — made in the U.S. — designed to minimize smoke and maximize the natural convection of heat. Breeo offers a range of fire pits in different sizes and materials, including stainless steel and recycled steel, and many of their products are designed to be used with wood or charcoal as fuel.

The Breeo Y Series fire pit weighs in at 31 lbs. and includes a built-in handle and retractable legs with three levels. Fully retracted for packing, extended to level two for use as a campfire, and fully extended for use for cooking. This fire pit is easy to tote around and load up into a vehicle.

Breeo’s engineers designed this fire pit with vents in the bottom in the shape of a Y, thus the name, Y Series so you’ll have less smoke at camp.

This proprietary technology is essentially a raised air vent built in the bottom of the fire pit that allows oxygen to feed the fire. The double-walled design lets hot air rise in between the gaps and circulate around your fire. This hot air seeps through the holes at the top and results in a cleaner and more efficient burn. This reduces smoke, improves air quality (producing less smoke), and is more convenient as your fire is easier to start than traditional wood-burning fire pits.

Fuel-burning options

You can use wood, wood pellets or lump charcoal with this fire pit for your campfire and for cooking. The add-on Outpost grill is made specifically for this fire pit (and can be used over a traditional campfire) and is easy to use.

Using the Breeo Y Series portable fire pit in the field

Whether your base camp is an RV, van, tent, car or cabin, a portable smokeless fire pit is a great way to extend your time outdoors. The convenience of starting a fire easily and the peace of mind of knowing your fire is contained can be beneficial when you’re on the road and have other work to do like writing, sorting gear, and organizing interview notes at the end of a long day.

To use the Breeo Y Series fire pit as a campfire, simply carry it with the built-in handle, set the legs to the second position and start building your fire. Use kindling to start your fire as you normally would, then build your fire and enjoy!

To cook with the fire pit, Breeo offers several accessories like the Outpost grill (which can be used alone or with the fire pit), a cast iron kettle and the Outpost kettle hook. To start cooking, extend the legs of the fire pit to the tallest position and attach the Outpost grill or Outpost kettle hook prior to starting your fire. Cook as you normally would.

Five benefits to using a portable fire pit

Safety

Portable fire pits can provide a safer way to have a fire at your campsite, as they typically have a contained design that helps prevent the fire from spreading.

Convenience

A portable fire pit can be easily set up and taken down, making it convenient to use at a remote campsite where a traditional in-ground fire pit may not be an option.

Multi-functionality

Many portable fire pits can be used for cooking as well as providing warmth and light, making them a versatile addition to your campsite.

Lightweight and easy to transport

Most portable fire pits are designed to be lightweight and easy to carry, making them perfect for camping trips where you need to pack light.

Durability

Many portable fire pits are made from sturdy materials that are designed to withstand the elements, ensuring that they will last for many camping trips to come.
