The scholarships are open to undergraduate students (entering junior or senior year) and graduate students (including Ph.D. candidates). Recipients are paid at the commencement of the fall semester. OWAA’s trustees are required by our bylaws to distribute a calculated portion of the Bodie McDowell Fund to college scholarship recipients each year.
Application deadline (for 2015 funding): March 2, 2015
In 2014, more than $2,400 was awarded to two outdoor communicators. OWAA’s John Madson Fellowship provides funding for members and non-members to attend the OWAA annual conference and other educational opportunities that will enhance a fellowship recipient’s communication skills. The fellowship is funded through the John Madson Fellowship Fund, an endowment that thrives primarily through contributions and fundraising efforts. Its goal is to enhance professional communication skills for as many outdoor communicators as possible.
