Self-starting video journalist sought for a growing journalistic non-profit organization. The ideal candidate will have experience pitching, shooting and editing short, compelling videos. Storytelling skills are essential, experience with the editorial process and performance under tight deadlines a plus.
Climate Nexus is a non-profit organization dedicated to changing the conversation on climate and energy in the United States. We work closely with scientists, community representatives, major media outlets and non-profit groups to inform the public about the implications and solutions surrounding climate change.
There is the potential for videos to run on national media platforms and for elements to be picked up by commercial broadcasters, so professional standards must be followed at all times.
Be proficient with Final Cut Pro X or Adobe Premier
Have experience with professional video cameras or DSLRs
Be able to write concise, engaging video scripts
Have a strong interest in environmental topics
Have a positive, team-oriented attitude
Applicants should be punctual, professional, experienced with digital video production and have real-world video experience or appropriate training. The ability to meet tight deadlines is a must. Knowledge of climate science is a plus.
Since its founding in 2011, Climate Nexus has drawn upon established and emerging science to personalize and localize the climate and energy story through work with the media, relevant NGOs and other thought leaders. Climate Nexus is a sponsored Project of Rockefeller Philanthropy Advisors.
We are an equal opportunity employer.
