Urban Farm

A print and online magazine for city folk who endeavor to live more sustainably.
This print and online production (www.urbanfarmonline.com) reports on how-to projects, small-space gardening tips, backyard-livestock advice, profiles of urban farmers, “green” and innovative products, and of course, recipes for preparing homegrown vegetables, eggs and other farm bounty. This magazine is for people who live in the city and the suburbs, and are endeavoring to live more sustainably and self-sufficiently. Needed stories include informative, in-depth, upbeat articles (about 1,000 to 2,000 words in length) that will help readers better understand and live a sustainable lifestyle. Shorter, news-oriented articles are accepted (approximately 500 words) for the “Newsfeed” column. The best time to send feature article queries is Jan. 1-April 1. News and trend queries are accepted year-round, e-mail them to uf@bowtieinc.com. Allow six to eight weeks for a response. It is appreciated when manuscripts are accompanied by professional-quality color photographs (digital only). Additional guidelines are available at www.urbanfarmonline.com/urban-farm-writer-guidelines.aspx. For photography guidelines see www.urbanfarmonline.com/urban-farm-photographer-guidelines.aspx. Simultaneous submissions are not accepted. First North American serial rights are purchased and articles are paid upon publication. Rates of payment are based on quality and the amount of time a story requires. Additional compensation will be given for high-quality photographs that are submitted and then published with articles.
