Trapper and Predator Caller’s editorial goal is to inform, educate and entertain readers with articles, photographs and illustrations that promote trapping, predator calling and muzzleloader hunting. They look for stories that focus on methods and equipment used in trapping, calling or hunting. They also accept historical pieces, personality profiles and unusual experience stories. Features should be between 1,500 and 2,500 words. Please submit stories as Microsoft Word documents. The magazine accepts both manuscripts and queries. They schedule content six months to a year in advance, so consider the timeliness of your stories before you submit if time sensitivity is relevant to your article. E-mail queries are preferred. Also check your facts before submitting an article. Errors reduce the credibility of the magazine and hurt your professional relationship with Trapper and Predator Caller. Photographs are required with submissions. They prefer to run high-resolution digital photos of people in action, but encourage posed photos with the catch as well. Sharply focused prints are acceptable. Digital photos should be saved as high-resolution TIFF or JPEG files on a DVD or CD. File-size compression should allow the file to maintain a minimum of 300 pixels per square inch when re-sized or edited in any fashion to actual image sizes of 11-by- 17-inches for horizontal images and 8.5-by- 11-inches for vertical images. Include your name and contact information on any CD or DVR you send for consideration, as well as on any included contact sheets. Please also send detailed information for each photo. Payment is $100 to $250 for assigned articles; $80 to $200 for unsolicited articles. Payment amounts depend on the quality of writing and photography as a package. Payment is made within 45 days of publication. Trapper and Predator Caller buys one-time rights to stories and photographs. Send queries, manuscripts and photos to Managing Editor Jared Blohm at to firstname.lastname@example.org or Jared Blohm, 700 E. State Street, Iola, WI 54990-0001.
