We are looking for someone to be able to handle the following responsibilities alongside our talented team:
•Acquire lead-level titles in fishing, hunting, shooting, survival, camping, backpacking, and general outdoors
•Shepherd manuscripts through the production process from concept to bound copy: edit and copyedit manuscripts, work with design to create marketable packages, read layouts for editorial content and review for design structure and consistency
•Work directly and negotiate contracts with authors and agents
•Work closely with the editorial director in developing book concepts and creating future lists of books.
•Take over and handle select projects for the editorial director
The successful candidate has:
5 to 10 years experience in publishing
Established contacts with authors and agents
Strong acquisitions, proven sales record, and a keen understanding of the outdoor marketplace
Excellent writing and verbal communications skills
The ability to take overall responsibility for concept, content, and author relationships including: seeing new titles through all stages of editing; managing schedules; collaborating with design and production.
A familiarity with the types of books Skyhorse publishes
Strong understanding and awareness of general marketplace and relevant market segments within industry
