EWG is seeking an experienced professional with strong skills in media pitching, strategic planning, and writing for a Press Secretary position in the Washington, DC office focusing on the environmental and human health impacts of agriculture, including the issues of genetically engineered foods and organics. Candidates must have the vision and skills necessary to help propel the organization to even greater policy successes, growth and visibility.

Continuously develop, maintain and strengthen EWG’s relationships with reporters, pundits, producers and editorial decision makers at hundreds of national and local media outlets.
Design and execute strategic public affairs plans that aggressively boost the organization’s policy successes and visibility in the areas of agriculture (GMOs and organic.)
Advise the organization on how to best structure and present research to interested reporters in ways that drive policy change. Play a key role in the pitching and written presentation of EWG products to strategically chosen news media.
Raise the profile of the organization and its top executives and experts with both MSM and new media.
Five years of prior media relations experience, including a proven ability to generate coverage.
Extremely strong pitching skills and persistence. Substantial reporter and producer rolodex.
Must write well and quickly in a variety of news formats, including mainstream and social media. Ability to write news releases, advisories, statements and web text quickly and with little editing needed.
Passion for environmental issues with a strong emphasis on agriculture and biotechnology.
