JOB: Associate editor

Petersen’s BOWHUNTING – “The Modern Bowhunting Authority” – is seeking a full-time associate editor for its Harrisburg, Pa., office. The associate editor serves as primary coordinator of the magazine’s gear coverage and works closely with the in-house editorial staff, field editors and archery equipment manufacturers to deliver timely, technically oriented articles to BOWHUNTING’s market-leading audience. The associate editor also assists the editor and art director in preparing monthly department and feature packages for publication, selection of support photographs and the layout process. Finally, the associate editor serves as a key member of BOWHUNTING’s digital media team, which maintains the magazine’s multimedia presence through its website, Stuck in the Rut blog, social media sites and the popular Petersen’s BOWHUNTING Radio podcast.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field, as well as two to five years of print and/or online publishing experience. Strong computer skills, excellent people skills, a willingness to embrace new media, a passion for bowhunting and general knowledge of the archery industry also are critical. Occasional out-of-town travel to attend hunts, trade shows and other industry events will be required.
