Persimmon Hill

Persimmon Hill is published quarterly by the National Cowboy & Western Heritage Museum. This magazine desires stories that capture the spirit of adventure and individualism that typifies the Old West or reveals a facet of the Western lifestyle in contemporary society. The availability of superior illustrations or photographs strongly influences the sale of an article to this magazine. They buy first North American rights and do not accept reprints. Pay ranges from $100 to $350, including photographs. No phone queries or multiple submissions are accepted. Allow a minimum of six weeks for a response from the editor and editorial board.
Historical and contemporary articles on notable persons connected with pioneering the American West, Western art, rodeo, cowboys, Western flora, animal life or other phenomena of the West of today or yesterday. Length of articles should not exceed 1,500 words. Glossy prints, color transparencies or black and white historical images submitted and purchased with the manuscript. Captions required. Digital images on CD/DVD in CMYK at 300 dpi with a minimum of 4 megabytes resolution.
