The monthly magazine is looking for stories about New Mexico experiences that emphasize the power of place. Articles may be written with opinionated storytelling and first-person point of view when appropriate and should inspire readers to follow in the writer’s footsteps. Submit story ideas along with a working headline, a subhead and a paragraph synopsis. Include published clips and a short summary of your strengths as a writer. New Mexico Magazine rarely publishes unsolicited manuscripts, but may consider assigning interested writers to stories that have been conceptualized in-house. Payment is processed upon acceptance. Pay is roughly 35-40 cents per word. The magazine purchases first publication rights, exclusive worldwide for 120 days from the on-sale date of the issue of the magazine containing the work. Send your material to firstname.lastname@example.org or Queries, New Mexico Magazine, Lew Wallace Building , 495 Old Santa Fe Trail, Santa Fe, NM 8750.
