The successful applicant will have to cover a lot of hard news like county government, courts and two public universities. But he or she will also be responsible for coverage of public lands policies, fisheries, wildlife and environmental reporting, including the largest Superfund site in the country.
Butte, Mont., is located in one of the most beautiful and wildlife-rich areas of the country. The issues include abundant wildlife, fisheries, endangered species and public land management. This is an excellent entry-level job for someone with an interest in the outdoors and the writer will have ample opportunity to produce features as well as a column on hunting, fishing and the outdoors. Butte is also affordable and a lively town that is gaining ground economically.
