JOB: Instructor of communication

Eastern New Mexico University seeks an instructor of communication. The full-time (9-month) position will begin fall 2011 in Portales, N.M.
The instructor will teach two courses per semester (6 credits) in the communication department, as well as schedule and supervise the practicum experiences of all departmental majors. The other half of this full-time position will be working as news director for KENW-TV, the local PBS affiliate. The news director is responsible for producing the station’s week-night newscasts, which are produced primarily using university student personnel.
The candidate will be expected to propose and develop new student opportunities by calling upon the in-place, collegial, and highly productive relationship between the university and KENW-TV and serve as liaison between the two.
Basic qualifications: Degree in communication with emphasis in broadcasting; graduate degree preferred. The ideal candidate will have industry experience in news production with the ability to teach broadcast production, broadcast journalism, and radio station operations. The candidate will also have experience in print journalism and various other media of the industry.
