The Coloradoan, a Gannett Company, seeks an environment reporter who will deliver authoritative coverage on Northern Colorado issues. The successful applicant will work in an ideal spot to cover land-use in the outdoors – our coverage area includes the headwaters of the Colorado and South Platte rivers, Rocky Mountain National Park and millions of acres of public land an easy drive from the Coloradoan’s Fort Collins offices.
The historic Poudre River, which flows through downtown, was among the first rivers for which a water rights system was established. In the years to come, it will be the future home of a kayak park that will accent local business and restaurants in Old Town.
Topics of interest to our readers – who are passionate about land-use issues – include water availability and oil and gas development.
This reporter will have relevant environmental experience. Additionally, he or she will bring a natural curiosity to the position, asking thoughtful questions that lead to relevant storytelling. A firm understanding of social and digital platforms is important, as is knowing and growing the audience for this beat.
The Coloradoan is an award-winning, innovative media company that’s consistently demonstrated leadership in the digital and social spaces. Employee benefits include what applicants would expect (401K, medical, dental, vision, vacation, etc) plus other perks, such as an on-site bike library and dog-friendly Fridays.
The Coloradoan, a Gannett Company, is committed to diversity and proud to be an equal opportunity employer. Employment is contingent on passing a pre-employment, post-offer drug screen and background check. To apply, please visit http://bit.ly/1IYwzqo.
