The Peninsula Clarion in Kenai, Alaska has an immediate opening for a reporter to cover municipal government and resource development issues on the Kenai Peninsula. The ideal candidate will be able to go beyond the meetings and press releases to dig in to the impacts of public policy decisions and industry activity in our community. We’re looking for a candidate with strong reporting skills and a good grasp of grammar and AP style who can write accurate, compelling stories under deadline, help on the copy desk and take a regular turn designing the Clarion’s front page. Experience with InDesign is a plus. The Kenai Peninsula is an outdoor lover’s paradise and a great place to contribute to a community paper while honing valuable skills as a journalist. The position may include nights and weekends. The Peninsula Clarion is a Sunday through Friday a.m. paper with a strong web presence.
