The Fishing Wire is the daily news of recreational fishing in America. We publish news on fisheries both fresh and salt, regulations, fishing and boating legislation, law enforcement, conservation and general fishing and marine industry news as well as daily updates on latest new products.

Petersen's BOWHUNTING

Petersen’s BOWHUNTING, “The Modern Bowhunting Authority,” is now accepting submissions for its 2014 editorial calendar. BOWHUNTING covers all aspects of archery hunting, with a particular emphasis on gear tuning, shooting tips and how-to hunting strategy. Although the majority of BOWHUNTING’s coverage pertains to whitetail deer, the magazine also has regular needs for articles involving Western game such as elk, mule deer and pronghorn antelope. Other areas of need include hunting for bears, mountain lions, sheep, goats, hogs and African and exotic game, as well as bowfishing. Keep in mind that BOWHUNTING is focused on educating its readers, so all articles should have a how-to slant that explains particular strategies and techniques for successful bowhunting. Both queries and completed manuscripts are accepted. However, finished manuscripts cannot be considered unless accompanied by a minimum of a dozen high-resolution digital photographs. Features generally run 1,500-1,800 words. Digital photography submissions of bowhunters and/or game animals in field settings also are welcome. Click magazine is a lifestyle and social events publication distributed each month across the Midsouth. The publication is currently looking for an experienced features writer to contribute 1-2 articles for the October/November issue of Click magazine. Senior Sportsmen’s Association is a new association and has a growing need for staff members to fill many positions including: webmaster, editors and regional managers around North America. The SSA online magazine will need writers, photographers, video and editors for the website content. A webmaster experienced in website development/management and outdoor writing is necessary. Western Shooting Journal

Western Shooting Journal, a large print magazine, is seeking freelance writers to contribute occasional articles about topics related to guns. We are especially looking for articles about hunting, archery and knives (would like dedicated monthly writers on those topics if possible). Other topics we are looking for include shooting competitions, women and guns, black powder/muzzleloading, shotguns, and youth and guns. We are primarily interested in western to midwestern states, but we have been expanding a bit to the East Coast and outside the U.S., so stories outside of the West are OK. We pay 7 cents per word.
