American Trapper seeks articles
Publication’s editorial guidelines and/or specific needs:
The AMERICAN TRAPPER is the voice of the National Trappers Association. We are a full-color, 68-page magazine published six times a year. We are in an active acquisition mode and encourage OWAA members to submit queries. Practically any topic that is trapping qualifies – the equipment, preparation, sets, furbearer behavior, line management, animal damage control, and fur handling. I am not seeking calling or predator hunting articles.
We use both long feature articles and shorts. I recommend most articles be in the 1,000- to 2,500-word range. Shorts, of course will be 250 to 1,000 words. Payment varies highly depending upon length, photo support, uniqueness and so on. A variety of photos and sidebars will add value to the piece. Top pay is $175 approximately two weeks after publication.
I prefer both the article and the photos be submitted email as electronic files. For the articles, please send them as text files, not PDFs. Do not crop down photos before sending. Send photos as attachments, not through a download service. It is best to send the original electronic file. This being said, I will review and use typed and handwritten articles as well.
Submit all queries and submissions to: Rich Faler, Editor, AMERICAN TRAPPER, PO Box 224, Greenville, PA 16125; Cell: 724.456.2823; Phone: 724-588-1910; Email: firstname.lastname@example.org.
