Purpose of Position:
The purpose of this position is to inform citizens of the services and opportunities offered by the New Mexico Department of Game and Fish, and to promote the values of hunting, fishing, trapping and wildlife conservation through printed publications, news releases, photography, interviews and other educational and personal interactions with the public. The incumbent provides professional copy editing skills, utilizing Associated Press standards in grammar and style, on the execution of all work and will use various communication methods, including but not limited to: TV, radio, newspapers, magazines, electronic media, social media, press releases, media interviews, trade shows, events and educational outreach to provide public relations support.
 
This position is a Pay Band 65.
Classification Description
Public Relations Coordinator Advanced
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration with an emphasis in Marketing and two (2) years of experience in Journalism, Advertising and and/or Marketing. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling six (6) years may substitute for the required education and experience.

 

Employment Requirements: 
Must possess and maintain a valid New Mexico Driver’s License. Employment is subject to a pre-employment background investigation and is conditional pending results.

Working Conditions:
Work will be performed primarily in an office setting, but on occasion will be performed in the outdoors during all types of weather conditions and in close proximity to fish and wildlife. Weekend and varied hours occasionally will be required for this position. Must be able to lift 60 pounds and operate computers and photography equipment.Conditions of Employment:
