The town of Dubois remains open for business to visitors, as does all of U.S. Hwy. 26/287 from Jackson Hole to Dubois.

The Lava Mountain Fire burning 20 miles northwest of Dubois is not affecting travel on the route between the quaint cowboy town and Yellowstone National Park over Togwotee Pass. According to InciWeb, the fire incident website providing the most up-to-date information about the fire, “Highway 26 remains open at this time with a no-stopping zone established in the vicinity of the fire.”

Businesses in the town of Dubois continue to operate normally and welcome visitors. For the most part, the Lava Mountain Fire is leaving this beautiful part of Wyoming unaffected for travel and outdoor recreation. There are many summer events happening, trails are available for hiking, biking, riding and ATV use, and easy access to blue-ribbon fishing. Find vacation information at http://www.duboiswyoming.org and http://www.windriver.org.

The Shoshone National Forest advises outdoorspeople be aware of the few closures that may affect their hiking plans: Forest Roads 513, 532, 540, 524, 542.II, and 629 are closed. The Continental Divide Trail is closed from Sheridan Pass to Pilot Knob, and Motorized Trails 10, 11, and 15 are closed.

For the most current information about trail and road options that continue to remain open, visit http://inciweb.nwcg.gov/incident/4864/ or call (307) 455-4038 for the U.S. Forest Service Information Desk. ♦
