    Keep VP #3

I encourage OWAA members to vote against the Bylaws Amendment to eliminate the 3rd VP (in other words, to retain the 3rd VP position) for three reasons:

–To learn – Even longtime members have much to learn when they join OWAA’s Executive Committee. Newly elected 3rd VPs have one year to get their feet wet by watching and learning how the organization functions before taking on full responsibilities a year later.

–To assist – The 3rd VP’s break-in period includes minimal duties serving as chair of the Sections Committee and assistant chair of the Conference Program Committee, thus easing the work that would otherwise fall to the 2nd VP.

–To Back-Up – Even if there were no other duties, the 3rd VP position should be retained simply as a back-up in the event that any of the other officers are unable to serve out their terms. Several such instances have occurred just in the past 10 years alone.

This point of view is offered from one who has previously served both as a board member and officer on the Executive Committee.

Great format for OU – easy to read, fun to navigate, and full of useful information. Nice job, Ashley.
