Membership Directories

Each year, OWAA publishes a complete membership directory with members' biographical listings, OWAA book authors, masthead editors, radio/television broadcasters, videographers, newspaper affiliations and much more.

Business Guidelines

OWAA offers professional standards and business guidelines to assist members with how to properly and ethically conduct their business. Three of our newest publications: The OWAA Outdoor Reference Manual; Freelancers Guide to Business Practices and; Legal Handbook for Freelancers.

Excellence in Crafts Contests

About $35,000 is awarded each year to members who compete in OWAA's Excellence in Craft contests. Complete contest rules and entry forms are published in the September issue of Outdoors Unlimited and on OWAA's Web site.

Assistance

Having a hard time getting paid by a publisher/vendor? OWAA helps settle disputes that arise during the course of doing business.

Request a Membership List

Upon request, members are entitled to one membership mailing list by e-mail per year free of charge. Additional lists are available for a fee.

Exclusive Member Benefits

Members receive exclusive member benefits and discounts from selected OWAA corporate members, and discounts on car rentals, book purchases and hotels.

Fellowships

OWAA's John Madson Fellowship provides funding for attending OWAA's annual conference, writing workshops and other educational opportunities. More than $2,200 has been distributed in recent years.

Scholarships

The Bodie McDowell Scholarship provides grants to assist undergraduate and graduate students pursuing degrees in outdoor communication fields.  More than $30,000 has been distributed in recent years.
