Supporting Group applicants will be announced as new Supporters at the beginning of the next month after processing and will receive their welcome packet approximately 2 weeks after their application has been processed.
Individual Member applicants will be announced as proposed members at the beginning of the next month after processing and then will be welcomed as new members 60 days later following a mandatory comment period.
OWAA publishes our association updates at the beginning of every month as part of our online update for members. Once new members are “proposed,” our bylaws mandate a 30 day comment period during which current members can comment on any new applicants. If no comments are received, all proposed members will be welcomed as new members in our next association update which falls 60 days after the initial proposed date.
New members will receive email confirmation that their application has been processed and will receive their welcome packets in the mail approximately 1 week prior to their official join date.
Sample application process for individual members:
Jan 20: application received at OWAA HQ
Feb 5: application processed by OWAA HQ and email notification to applicant is sent
March 1: applicant published as proposed member, comment period begins
April 1: comment period ends
April 5: next content deadline, proposed member submitted as new member
April 20: new member packet received in the mail
May 1: applicants published as new members, official join date
