The Goldenrod Workshop is named in recognition of Margaret’s Menamim’s OWAA Poem of Invocation. Former OWAA President “Uncle” Homer Circle, who was president of OWAA in 1967-1968, urged Margaret Menamin to write a poem of invocation. “I felt we needed one to replace those which tended to be biased toward one religion or another,” Circle said in a letter. More on Margaret Menamin and the poem.

- What does the $995 cover?
Room, board and tuition. Participants reside at The University of Montana campus, in dormitory rooms. The $995 fee assumes double occupancy; add $100 if requesting a single sleeping room. Alternate arrangements can be made by workshop attendees at their own expense.
- Is part of my $995 fee refunded if I arrange my own food and lodging?
The tuition fee can be reduced for those who would like to arrange their own food and lodging, though we recommend using the group dining and housing option to allow more time for networking and getting to know other attendees. Because sessions runs most of the day, all attendees will be required to register for lunch on the University of Montana campus, but for those who would like to arrange their own lodging, breakfast and dinner, the tuition cost is $825.

Once inside the cafeteria, it’s a buffet-style eating arrangement.
- What if I arrive in Missoula before the commencement of Goldenrod?

- Can I receive educational credit hours for attending Goldenrod?
OWAA has arranged for educational/continuing education credit hours to be issued through the Montana Office of Public Instruction. 15 credit hours will be awarded for attendance in all resident-faculty sessions. Partial credit is not available and students will need resident faculty to sign-off on their attendance. Non-Montana residents should check with your state office prior to attendance to ensure credits will transfer. College academic credit is not available at this time.
- Are scholarships available for the workshop?
If you’re an OWAA member, you can apply for the John Madson Fellowship. The Fellowship is funded through the OWAA’s John Madson Fellowship Fund, an endowment that thrives primarily through member contributions and fundraising efforts.
