Journalism Internship

A semester-long print journalism internship is available during the fall, spring or summer.

  • 10-15 hours per week.
  • Knowledge of AP style is a must.
  • Writing features and researching articles.
  • Editing and proofreading.
  • Organizing and condensing press releases.
  • The opportunity to help with publication layout and design.

Marketing Internship

A semester-long marketing internship is available during the fall, spring or summer. The internship requires a commitment of 6 to 10 hours per week.

The marketing intern will assist with membership and conference marketing as well as general PR projects for the organization. Tasks include writing press releases, developing marketing publications and flyers, updating the OWAA website and social networking sites, and outreach projects. OWAA puts on several annual programs and events including an annual conference, the Excellence in Craft contests, the Madson Fellowship and the Bodie McDowell Scholarship, among others. The marketing intern will also help to develop and execute marketing plans for such events.

  • Press releases
  • Membership Drive
  • Building and maintaining a conference website
  • Affiliate program research
  • Press list management

Event Planning Internship

A year-long marketing internship is available during the fall, spring and summer. The internship requires a commitment of 6 to 10 hours per week and includes travel to our annual conference in July 2016.

The event planning intern will insist in carrying out the 2016 OWAA conference in Billings, Montana. Tasks will include reaching out to members and supporters regarding conference, soliciting auction items and prizes, sending out conference emails and social media postings, coordinating event logistics, maintaining the conference website, confirming conference registrations, coordinating speaker and moderator logistics and will assist will on-site execution of the event.
