Enjoy downtown Fairbanks, Alaskan wilderness and wildlife …

Alternative lodging arrangements in Fairbanks are available for interested families, partners, spouses and guests. Fairbanks accommodations will allow for more flexibility in dining and recreation opportunities. A Taste of Alaska Lodge is excited to welcome OWAA guests at their 280-acre property just outside Fairbanks, offering access to downtown Fairbanks as well as the Alaskan wilderness and wildlife. A Taste of Alaska Lodge is offering all of their rooms at the highly-reduced rate of $110/night (single or double occupancy), including breakfast, for OWAA guests.

Will I have to pay for two rooms instead of one? No, you won’t. With roommates, you’ll pay for your half in Chena and her half in Fairbanks. About $100/night total.

Fairbanks offers opportunities for:

  • visiting museums and specialty shop
  • train, boat, atv and bus tour
  • aurora and wildlife viewing
  • native culture classes
  • wildlife viewing
  • and more

A Taste of Alaska Lodge will be providing lodging for those in the spouse/guest program. On-site activities and transportation will be coordinated from this location. Spouses, partners, families, and guests staying at Chena Hot Springs Resort are welcome to participate, but will need to provide their own transportation.

The Fairbanks CVB is also ready to arrange crafts, activities or tours for families and guests if there is sufficient interest.

… and take part in the OWAA Conference, too.

We will also arrange for a day trip up to Chena Hot Spring Resort on Sept. 6 to enjoy all that Resort has to offer, including:

  • hot spring pools
  • dog sledding
  • horseback riding
  • Aurora ice museum

Why Sept. 6? As this is the last day of the conference, families and guests would also be able to attend the Honorary Awards and EIC Banquet and crowd favorites such as the Photo Scavenger Hunt and the Ladies Shoot.

Regardless of where you choose to stay:

OWAA HQs is happy to help arrange room-sharing for guests staying in Fairbanks to help keep lodging expenses as affordable as possible. All OWAA members staying up at Chena Hot Springs will also be required to share accommodations.

While we encourage spouses, partners, families and guests to stay in Fairbanks, accommodations will also be available at Chena Hot Springs Resort on a first-come, first-serve basis.

If you have any questions or input regarding conference accommodations or activities for families and guests, please contact Jessica Pollett at jpollett[at]owaa.org or 406-728-7434.

Potential excursions and classes have already been put together by the Fairbanks CVB.
