Mayors Welcome OWAA to Fairbanks

November 23, 2011

Dear Members of the Outdoor Writers Association of America:

With great pleasure we invite you all to Fairbanks Alaska, the Golden Heart City, for your 2012 conference. Alaska is synonymous with the great outdoors which makes it particularly fitting to have the Outdoor Writers Association of America (OWAA) come to Interior Alaska. Let the warmth of our people guide you through our vibrant city and our vast and beautiful lands. Whether you are interested in photographing the aurora, going fishing, flying above the Arctic Circle, or floating down the Chena River (which runs through our city), Fairbanks is sure to please

Our pledge is to help create a successful and memorable event for all OWAA travel media. In conjunction with OWAA’s Local Chair Chris Batin, and the Fairbanks Convention and Visitors Bureau, we assure you we will fulfill that pledge. We invite you to embrace Interior Alaska’s true spirit of hospitality and sense of adventure. We welcome you to Fairbanks and North Pole and we are honored that you will be writing stories about the places we call home.
